Power Recruiting in MLM Without Having A Shred Of Prior Success! |
How to recruit without having a shred of success or credibility yourself
It's the age old network marketing debate: should you lead with the product or the opportunity?
How about leading with the product "in terms of" the opportunity?
A better title for this article would be "How to quickly build a powerful story so that you can recruit anyone". My philosophy here is a variation of Jim Rohn's process taken from his audio "Building Your Network Marketing Business". If you have never heard this audio CD, Google it and buy a copy ASAP.
Your first goal: build a powerful story with the products; understand that this does not have to be a personal story. It does not matter whether you have a service that saves money or a product that impacts people, if you are not comfortable getting out and retailing the product then you are in the wrong business.
The backbone of EVERY opportunity is the product.
I don't care if you are in it just for the business. Get out and get people on the product so that you have a handful of product testimonials that you are personally responsible for creating.
Using product testimonies of people you don't know is just not effective. People can see right through you. Always using stories & testimonies of people you don't know communicates to your prospects that you are not personally engaged in the business. Translation: if it's not worth your effort to engage why should it be worth theirs?
Goal #1: Get the product out in front of enough people so that you have a handful of personal product testimonials that YOU are responsible for creating.
This should not take too long really. Remember you are building a foundation for long term success. You don't want this to just be another black mark on your history of involvement in network marketing.
The problem is not a lack of quality business prospects; it's a lack of a quality way to present the business to your good prospects. I think most people would agree that if they had a powerful story to share they would not be afraid to share their opportunity with anybody.
Well you may not be making a million yet, but you should have powerful stories to share if you have followed this process.
Now you can sit down with the average John Doe prospect and say "This product works, that's a given, in fact...." then go forth to share stories of people you personally know (often times of people you both know) that you've created by actively sharing the product.
After doing this for a while you are going to build a team of people having success doing the same. Your checks will be going up and now you can sit down with Joe Bighitter and say "Wow you know what I've just been sharing this product and business real casually and I can't believe the way this thing has taken off on me!"
Don't be pressured by your upline into approaching all your big hitters instantly. If you are in this for the long haul and you don't have a background of success in network marketing than you will need a little leverage to get to the big hitters. Nothing has more leverage in this industry than past success. Create your own past success by using the product as an anchor and watch your credibility and business explode!
