How to clean Airbrush |
Now that you successfully painted your model, it is time to clean and put away your airbrush! Well this is the part every airbrush user hates the most because it takes some time and effort. However, Testors Aztec INTERNAL mix models are very easy to clean since you do not have to take the airbrush apart when cleaning it. But remember, if you take care of your airbrush, it will last longer and work better.
You should get to cleaning right after you finish painting because acrylic paints dry fast inside your airbrush. First of all, shoot thinner through for a while to get rid of paint inside the airbrush. Make sure that the roller is open all the way so it is spraying thinner, NOT air only. Unscrew the nozzle (Testors airbrush only) with the nozzle wrench and clean it thoroughly. Detach the hose from propellant/air compressor. NOTE: Every airbrush has a needle inside the airbrush, which is very fragile. If you break the needle your airbrush is history. Luckily for Testors airbrush the needle is located inside the nozzle so if you break one just simply buy another nozzle. Make sure the needle is clean. Also, it is very good to dip your airbrush (DO NOT dip the hose though) into thinner once in a while to get rid of access paint buildup. After you are done cleaning up your airbrush and its parts but it back in the box for use next time!
